About the Artist
I call my technique Visual Choreography because it is many steps brought together to create a dance for the eyes. The white flowers are the lyrics; the rhythm and movement is the music. I use digital tools to create my work. It begins with photography, then proceeds to photomontage, compositing sections from many different photos to create a graceful grayscale outline. Now the stage is set for the real work (fun!): digital painting. Using a combination of brushes in Photoshop, I embark on a journey of light, shadow, line, and form and turn shapes into dance movements. I introduce colors once the grayscale composition is finished. The entire journey, from the initial photo to finished composition takes roughly 1,500 hours to complete. I print with 9 color of 100% pigment ink. My images are printed on canvas as limited editions of 75 pieces. All work: photography, montage, digital painting, printing, varnishing, and stretching on custom-made stretchers is done by me in my studio. Lives and works in Brandon, VT.
