“I am interested in the relationship between landscape and imagination. What a strange thing it is to me, that a place exists in the world with certain measurable dimensions, and yet exists just as much in one’s mind. In that dark space, it takes on new shape and proportions as it becomes embedded with memory."

"As a kid, I would stare out my bedroom window at night, looking across the street toward a playground and a big, wide open field. Steeped in darkness, it transformed into a new kind of field, open to any possibility, fillable with any wondering. My memory of this was not far from my mind when I made these silkscreen monoprints. Each one is a not-quite reflection of the others, a link in a pattern that shifts with each iteration. Each one contains a far-off horizon, a point of longing."

"As I finished these prints, the world officially tipped into a pandemic. These circumstances bring up incredible challenges, including the need to spend most of the time at home, apart from extended family or friends, not knowing when the distance will be broken with an embrace. People everywhere are facing an uneasy tension between inside and outside. Staring out a window can be a reminder of that tension. But it also contains, at the same time: hope, peace, and a reminder of what we long for.“
