The Alloy Project

The Alloy Project, Tephra ICA's Annual Benefit offers new collaborative artworks for purchase and free arts experiences for audiences of all ages culminating in a ticketed evening Cocktail Event. This year, The Alloy Project invited three pairings of contemporary artists to engage in a process of creative response, generating original collaborative works of art and a series of limited-edition prints. Like an alloy, these art works result from bringing together two distinct elements, creating new synergies and possibilities.

Buoyant Force Fundraising Initiative

The Buoyant Force fundraising initiative offers the opportunity to collect a special, numbered, limited-edition print signed by the artist, Sue Wrbican. The photograph, Due East, Spring 2020, places the sculpture in time and space making record of its current state and simultaneously prompting consideration of how changes may occur in coming seasons. Weight of Paint #1 is a digital image designed to determine paint color direction in the fabrication process. Though the colors represented in the image were not final, this rendering represents a pivotal point in the construction phase.

All proceeds of the Buoyant Force fundraising initiative will directly support Tephra ICA's remaining debt incurred in delivering this unprecedented community art project. Thank you for supporting Tephra ICA, this project, and our contributions to increase contemporary arts education and experiences in the region and beyond.

Biography of Catastrophe and the Eventual Outcome of an Instant, 2017
Handbound by the author
$300 (Shipping Fee and 6% Sales Tax to be added at transaction)
70% of proceeds will support the artist.

In Biography of Catastrophe and the Eventual Outcome of an Instant, two narratives overlap documenting a shift from a hurricane in the Outer Banks to building a sculpture in Sugar Loaf, NY intertwining ideas of environment, weather, feminism, and art history. The sculpture, based on Hyphen, a painting by Kay Sage (1954), is the culmination of the book.
