About the Artist
I sketch the initial composition directly on the canvas in pencil, then realize it in thick brushstrokes. After I prepare my palette of liquid oil paint by thinning it with Damar varnish and turpentine, I guide its flow across the canvas where it partially dissolves the underlying brushwork and blends with it. I always work on the floor for better control. I repeat the process over and over, watching, waiting, reassessing the painting's evolution until it has fully revealed itself to me.
