About the Artist
A professional artist since 2003, I have been involved in art for most of my life. I was born in Maine in 1979 into an artistic family, and decided at the age of ten that I would become an artist. I have had several artistic mentors along the way, including the contemporary landscape painter Alan Bray, the collage artist Roderick Slater and the conceptual artist and bookbinder Richard Minsky. I majored in Classical Literature and Philosophy at St John's College, Annapolis, but studied pottery, lutherie, and bookbinding while there, and then focused exclusively on life drawing at the Art Students League of New York. I've had studios in many cities including NYC, Montreal, Paris, and Philadelphia, and currently my studio is in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia.
My works have won top awards at many juried competitions, have shown in galleries across America, and are included in numerous public and private collections around the world. In 2021, I completed my first outdoor mural, a landscape for a small town in the Shenandoah Valley, in Virginia. I have won numerous top awards at prestigious festivals, and have been the featured artist at various festivals over the years, including last year where I was the featured artist at both the Miami Coconut Grove Arts Festival, and the Spring Stockley Gardens Arts Festival in Norfolk, Virginia.
