About the Artist
A moment, a feeling. The intangible things that draw us to certain objects. Memories
deep within that are just out of reach. Familiar, yet new. That is what I try to convey in my work.
All my jewelry is hand fabricated using traditional metalsmithing techniques. I have been doing metal work for over twenty years. Some of the techniques include soldering, hammering, polishing, and hand milling the wire and bezels used. The pod necklace features every technique listed. The work features real sea glass which I have collected. Most of the sea glass was collected while standing in the surf knee deep. The sea glass is a constant source of inspiration, each piece is a unique naturally recycled bit of mysteriousness. With real sea glass no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.
Freshwater pearls and etched glass are also used in my work. The etched glass is kiln fired and etched in my studio. The deeper more intense colors like purple and teal are etched glass.
