About the Artist

Philadelphia-based artists Dan Cole and Bixa Burgos collaborate to explore the energy of plant-based color and the translation of invisible forces onto canvas. Inspired by the concept of thought forms ”energetic patterns in nature shaped by human consciousness”we channel these unseen energies into our work. Drawing from Annie Besantâ's ideas in her book Thought-Forms, we aim to capture the essence of energy rather than literal subjects.

Using a process influenced by Helen Frankenthaler's soak-stain technique, we dip folded canvases into successive flower baths. The layers of pigment blend to create vibrant, pulsating images that reflect the life energy of the plants used in this work. Each piece becomes a portal, recording the essence of the process and the interconnected energy of nature and man.

Based in Philadelphia, PA
