My work is a culmination of 30 years of jewelry experience, my education in Asian and European philosophy, and my vision of the future of jewelry art design. I want my brand to showcase upscale, cutting-edge jewelry with ethical notes in the design and materials. It must demonstrate luxury, an appreciation of vital elements of the environment, and meaningful ethical statements and reminders we can treasure.
For me and Irthly, sustainability will be achieved when society's ethics improve. As such, I focus on creating meaningful and ethical statements and reminders with the philosophical and compassionate intent of improving society's ethical footprint first. I initiate every series creation with an ethical or spiritual message I want to convey and then make a design that will represent that ethical note, making the look of the design is unique from the outset.
For example, one of my recent collections is my BeeEffect Collection in which I use the eco system of the honeybees as a prime example of how intimately interconnected we all are. I include a little sampling of their environment (actual real honey, pollen, honeycomb, and propolis) inside the body of the jewelry piece so that we can be intimately aware of our dependent co-arising.
As Irthly evolves, I will continue to uphold my primary values of creating ethical and meaningful designs that will coexist with the environmental calling of our times.
