About the Artist
My work is a mix of natural gems and minerals, sustainably sourced glass, and precious metals. My goal is to capture the fleeting beauty of nature and encourage the viewer to think about their own relationship to the natural world. To begin, I laminate sheets of glass to create the color I desire. Next, I use a wet diamond saw, then shape the pieces using flat lapidary wheels which grind the glass and minerals with a combination of carbide grit and water. I then engrave the surface of the glass with a stone wheel on an engraving machine: a slow spinning lathe, that is cooled by water. With the process, I can achieve texture and movement to create a unique vision of nature within each piece. I use my skills as a classically trained jeweler to create the setting out of sterling silver. My last step is to carefully set the glass, then sign and copyright the finished piece. Each piece is a completely unique wearable sculpture. Lives and works in Collingswood, NJ.
