About the Artist
In my artistic practice, I create monumental-scale glass enamel works on hand-hammered copper, often reaching dimensions of up to 4 feet by 5 feet. This scale is exceptionally rare for the enameling technique, which I have innovatively adapted from its traditional application. Each piece is a unique composition, incorporating fine silver, 24-karat gold, and smaller sculptural elements crafted from the same materials. These intricate components are meticulously integrated into the larger enameled surface, adding depth, texture, and visual intrigue.
The hand-hammered copper substrate lends an organic, textural foundation to the work, upon which the glass enamel is carefully applied and fired. The interplay of the vibrant, translucent enamel colors and the metallic elements creates a captivating visual experience that shifts with the changing light and viewing angle.
To complete each piece, the glass enamel sculpture is mounted on a hand-polished stainless steel base, ensuring a pristine and contemporary presentation. The juxtaposition of the sleek, modern steel and the timeless, luminous quality of the enameled surface creates a striking contrast that underscores the innovative nature of my approach to this ancient art form.
