About the Artist

What is constantly on my mind during my creative process is balance- balance between aesthetics and functionality, between Asian sensibilities and Western art school training. I want my work to be innovative yet approachable, playful yet stimulating. Since I was not classically trained as a ceramicist, the absence of traditional doctrines and rules actually provides me with greater freedom in my exploration of pottery. Many mistakes have been made along the way, but the rare successes that arise from those mistakes keep me constantly engaged.
