About the Artist
I have loved beautiful coats for as long as I can remember. Before becoming a fiber artist I have only owned a few. I am inspired by beautifully designed and woven fabrics that seemingly move on their own, those fabrics that talk to me, that by themselves seem to tell me what to create. I am, indeed, inspired by the many combinations of ever-changing colors and textures I see outside every day. All this leads me to create a coat that is elegant and functional, one that follows the lifestyles of those of us who work hard, who are curious and imaginative, and who strive for individuality. Interesting, beautiful materials, combined with lifestyle and design, inspire me.
My coats are a combination of those wonderful, rugged, lifestyle materials, combining a 300 Series Polar Tech, a fabric made in the USA, with felted, Native American-inspired Pendleton wool, all lined in aviator satin. My coats are warm, wind and water-resistant, and many reverse into rainwear. Because I design and make my own patterns my coats fit well and are made to be worn. Lives and works in Manakin Sabot, VA.
