About the Artist

I got into photography as a profession for two connected reasons. First, I love photography. Second, I love travel and the outdoors. In fact, I love travel so much that after graduating college in 2006 with a degree in civil engineering, I was only able to maintain the facade of enjoying the 9-5 office-job lifestyle for a year before I came to terms with the fact that I couldn't spend the rest of my life at a desk, earning money for someone else. At a friend's Christmas party in 2007, I spontaneously purchased a non-refundable one-way plane ticket to New Zealand. This remains the best decision I've ever made. I spent the next eight years living and traveling abroad, doing odd jobs, and spending my free time (and disposable income) taking photos.

In 2015, at the end of almost eight years outside of the US, I decided to roll the dice. I wanted a job that would pay for me to travel the world and do something I enjoy. And I didn't want to answer to a boss. I knew 70-year-old me would look back on my life with regret if I didn't even try to turn my passions into a career.  With this in mind, I returned to Colorado in 2015 and threw every dollar I'd saved and every free minute I had into creating Glenn Lewis Photography. I participated in a few art shows in 2016, assuming I would lose money, but wanting to see what I would need to do, moving forward, to be successful. And it worked out better than I could have hoped.  With the obvious exception of 2020, each year has been an improvement on the last. I like to think that my photography skills continue to improve year-over-year, and as I've achieved greater success, I've started to give myself permission to go on bigger, longer, more exciting photographic expeditions than I could have justified in the first few years of my career. Lives and works in Greeley, CO.
