About the Artist
Artist Jongsoo Francisco Lee is a Korean-American painter,. Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. After graduating with a metalogical engineering degree in Korea, he worked for Hyundai Business Group, a renowned conglomerate in Korea as an executive for many years, which allowed him to live and work around the globe, including London and San Francisco.
Jongsoo as the artist rooted in the tradition of oil and acrylic painting, passionately engages in En Plein Air Painting. Since his move from Korea to the U.S.A., he explores the scenic beauty not only around his North Virginia residence but also in neighboring states like North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and even New York. His recent summer journey led him to sketch the landscapes of North East of America from Pennsylvania up to Maine for two inspiring weeks.
Driven by a deep appreciation for nature, Jongsoo finds solace and inspiration in the serene beauty it offers. Just as nature provides beauty and peace of mind, he seeks to capture these elements in his artworks. Whether it's a park, woods, mountain, or lakeside, he immerses himself in the surroundings, savoring the fresh air and bringing a simple lunch box and coffee for a mid-painting break.
In his art, Jongsoo strives to convey the ever-changing emotions nature evokes, recognizing that the same location can elicit different feelings based on time and season. His meticulous attention to detail aims to transfer the beauty and tranquility of nature to the minds of those who gaze upon his paintings. Some critics even suggest that his work feels like a dialogue with nature itself.
With each stroke, Jongsoo invites you to resonate with his high sense of art, fostering a connection between his creations and the profound beauty found in the natural world.
