About the Artist
South America has been always known for its history of goldsmiths. The Native South Americans have been working since pre-Columbian times at this art. Even though the fashioning of gold into wire has been documented as far back as the Egyptians, there is a rich history throughout Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru of the artistic mastery of gold wire. I was born in Colombia and was exposed to this discipline since I was a child. I studied in Medellin, Colombia from some of the great Gold Wire masters. As a teenager, I came to America as an exchange student and began participating as a student artist in major art fairs. I developed a very particular look that emphasizes filigree, braiding ( particularly sailors knots) and solderless finishing. Working with wire just allows me to show how delicate, but strong, gold wire jewelry can be. I hope to continue showing my work at fine art and crafts festivals for years to come and to bring the art public something that they have not seen before. Lives and works in Palm Beach, FL.
