Biography

Warwick, MA

The weaver, who initially crocheted with her mom and grandmother, was first enthralled with weaving at age 10 during a visit to Old Sturbridge Village (MA) where she saw the process from sheep to shawl. At a local arts festival 15 years later, an artist vendor let her throw the shuttle through the shed on a 4-harness Harrisville demo loom (that she still has!) and a new chapter began. She feels like she can't NOT weave; the colors and patterns appear to her and she follows an instinctive natural color sense often commented upon. Weaver received master's certification in June, 2018 following the 6-year program at the Hill Institute in Northampton, MA. Her master's project was a jacket in deflected doulbleweave (merino wool/silk and tencel) with a different treadling sequence for each part of the jacket (sleeves, hood, back, front, sides, pockets. She loves this weave structure and in her booth (and photos) you'll see examples of these. Endless possibilities! Weaving is a lifelong pursuit and she never gets bored as there is always another structure/fiber/loom to explore! Weaver participates in 20 juried shows/year; is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen (2016, NH), the 802ArtsHouse guild (2023, VT), and has been a guest of the Maine Guild of Artisans (2024, 2025, ME). She sells at local galleries as well. Among her favorite things to weave are cotton shawls (also in photos) as these present an opportunity to combine color and structure in endless ways. She loves taking traditional structures and contemporizing them with color and texture.
