About the Artist
I've always been drawn to mid-century modern architecture, repeating patterns in graphic design, and beautiful intentional shapes. Using stoneware, my work is thrown on a pottery wheel or slab-built. I sketch ideas directly on bisque ware, then trace the design on adhesive paper which is cut by hand and applied to the pot. I prefer tape-resist to 3D printing as it allows the mark of the artist to show through the controlled designs. I then add pops of bold colored glazes that are separated by raw clay lines creating a tactile interaction from admirer to object. I strive to make pieces that stand out on their own, as statements of art to complement a space, but can be used and cherished by anyone within their favorite environment.
