About the Artist
I was born in a traditional artist family. when I was 9 years old, I began to study water-ink painting from my father. After studied under several renowned oriental art masters, I became a practicing painter. I use brushes freely with ink & colors extracted mostly from natural material to paint on the silk or handmade rice paper by the methods of using the brushstroke techniques. I apply lines and dots, outlines and gradation of shades to expresses the essence of my connection to nature’s harmony and beauty. All of the colors are water-soluble. Most vibrant colors are derived from either mineral pigment(for body color)or vegetable pigment(for transparent color). The mounting of the painting is a wet process. After being painted on the first piece of rice paper, when wet, the painting is attached to the second piece of rice paper as a backing paper for added strength. Once the painting is dry, all parts of the water-ink painting will never fade even being soaked. I use brushes with ink & colors to paint on the silk or handmade rice paper by the methods of using the brushstroke. Lives and works in Cary, NC.
