About the Artist
My work is inspired by age-old Indian traditional practices. This traditional influence has been incorporated throughout my work and fused with an amalgamation of modernism, to produce highly unique products. As we live in an era filled with bursts of distinctive artistic culture, I believe my work is a representation of traditional meets modernism. My decision to paint on fabric using Indian textile as my influence/artistic practice stems from my volunteering work for an NGO. This NGO's mission was to empower women and revive the dying arts of the Indian subcontinent. This provided opportunities to these local artisans so that their children's education was not compromised. This focus on helping local artisans and providing them support helped keep the age-old tradition alive and became my motive going forward. All of my work references these beautiful experiences that I have been privileged to go through. It is my hope that each piece I work on, reflects these qualities. Lives and works in Ashburn, VA.
