Biography

Washington, D.C.

I have always been drawn to functional art, especially very colorful art. When I first taught myself to basket weave in 2020, I initially wove traditional plain baskets. Yet, as I evolved as a basket maker, I was more interested in weaving baskets that are functional but also colorful and inspired by what is going on around me. Currently, I weave a variety of baskets that can be used everyday but can also serve as a piece of art. You will see this in the Lazy Susan Acrylic base basket, where it can serve as a decorative table centerpiece but then also be used for dinner parties. The American flag basket has a variety of uses (letters, bread, etc) and can be used as decoration for several holidays throughout the year. Each basket I make is unique and I typically design baskets, inspired by seasons or outside landscapes. While I have been inspired by various establish patterns, I aspire to bring my own unique sense of color and function to each baskets.
