About the Artist
When I was a child in Cuba and then in Brooklyn, and later in Maryland, just like now as a grown man, I was always drawing. My grandmother once noted that if someone were to tie my hands, I’d still draw inside my mouth using my tongue. Over the decades I’ve created thousands of
works of art in all genres and forms, and have managed to spread them all over the planet. This artistic footprint will (I hope) have a long life after I’m gone. Recently I’ve also begun to work on surfaces outside paper or canvas and begun to explore creating images on reclaimed broken
pottery. I seek to play with negative space in some of my work… let the observer fill in the rest of the narrative which I am seeking to deliver. Is that lone figure in that long, empty composition really alone? I also love to hide data within my drawings… and messages; look carefully at all
shadows and folds in clothing. A storyteller, armed with decent artistic skills, is a formidable leaver of footprints.
