About the Artist

I start my pieces creating the background first. I apply heavy bodied oils with a variety of palette knifes creating deep rich colors and textures. I use metallic silvers and gold to create even more depth. The bold red poppies are created using just the right knife to create the curve in each petal. The center of the poppies are carefully carved out as to not blend the background and foreground colors. My process is to work wet on wet using the right amount of pressure so as not mix the colors creating "mud". Pressure and movement in the wrist is the key to create a realistic yet impressionistic flower.
