Biography

Louisville, KY

All my etchings are original compositions; none are copies of ancient paintings or tomb drawings. The cumulative knowledge gained from over forty years of travel and study allows me to present original scenes in an historically-accurate, yet completely new, way. By learning how the Egyptians and other cultures used color, design, and dimension, I have developed guidelines for converting my own ideas into correct representations of ancient beliefs, ways of life, and aspirations.

Each etching is individually signed and numbered; all edition sizes are limited to 250 etchings or less. Information sheets accompany each etching. These sheets explain the symbolism represented and the stories which are being depicted.

My artwork reflects who I am and what I believe. When my images appeal to another person, it provides the basis for a genuine connection between us. Because I want that connection to be worthwhile, I attempt to make my artwork both visually attractive and symbolically meaningful.
My etching, "Justice in the Hall of Two Truths", represents the Egyptian belief that there exists truth in both words and deeds, and how a person had to establish their worthiness in those areas to gain access into the afterlife. So living a righteous life (not altogether different from Christian beliefs) was essential for admission to a happy eternal life.
