About the Artist
Enamelist and Goldsmith, Alex and Mona Szabados live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. They have collaborated for over 40 years and won numerous awards. Their work has been published in several books and magazines, including the front cover of "ORNAMENT" magazine. "Inspiration is found in nature and wildlife, the Enamels themselves, and the life we lead." Each enamel is built up gradually using transparent enamel with pure gold, silver, and palladium foil, gold granules, and wire, in approximately 40 layers and firings. The faces are built up with finely ground transparent, opaque and opalescent enamel in the same amount of firings, to create subtle dimensions and tactile quality. The enamels are set in hand fabricated 18 and 22k gold. Gold Granulation, and Stones. Lives and works in Mokelumne Hill, CA.
