About the Artist
I am a self proclaimed Persian-American artist who contributes her art to the arduous practice of staying present. Persian Calligraphy has been my family heritage and my main tool to share the spirit of art I've been experiencing in conscious presence. There is a space where creation pours and it pours until we grow weary of receiving it. In this space, I express yourself. I am the vehicle for the creator to manifest itself. Each piece thus starts with a deep desire to manifest the truth of time and space using tools appropriate for the creation, the audience, and the environment.
A wooden straw dipped in ink and moved by the spirit, Persian calligraphy is the art of the spiritual world and thus the spiritual practice is the foundation of the technique. One can only master the art of lettering the divine by the practice of presence, reverence, grace, and balance. Utilizing my years of meditation, I tune into this state and land the qalam on paper for scribing the words of spirit. Every piece is designed to carry a message through letters that are disciplined yet fluid and spontaneous. Every design is inspired by the desire to expand and explore new possibilities using minimal tools; papers, inks, and Qalams. The minimalistic approach allows for a deep experience of a vast space which is inclusive of diverse cultures and people.
