About the Artist
We live in a time of great upheaval in the wake of Moore's Law. As technology exponentially evolves, societies' values and systems shift to adapt to the new realities that tech opens us up to. We are forced to look at our world, and how we exist in it, in new ways.
I am interested in exploring a similar radical development in how people see and present themselves. I investigate a vision of transformative wearables which marry the precision and artistic nature of both sculpture and couture fashion, as well as the materials and forms which reflect our scientific advancement. These works reference a future of scientific discovery, my belief in the promise of biomimicry, and my fervent hope in the potential of humanity. And now, this work has become even more prescient, as we learn how to exist within this new post-pandemic world. As masks and visors have become a daily staple of our existence, further expanding the definition of self-expression.
Four years ago, I embarked on a radical shift from my sculpture practice, bringing my artistic aesthetic and years of manipulating fluid mediums to creating new innovative works which bridge art and wearables. The intention being to help spur and celebrate those bravely transversing the boundaries of what is possible today and the frontiers of tomorrow.
We at Abrams Studios feel each of our pieces incorporates the wearer into a living, breathing sculptural work that echoes and strengthen our mission statement - a statement that speaks of personal empowerment in a modern age, embodied in the exploration of nontraditional materials and forms.
