About the Artist
Though Rachael Newman calls coastal South Carolina home, she and her husband enjoy equal time traveling to art festival in their Airstream trailer or cruising in their sailboat. Each of these aspects of her life influences her art. Water flows through all her paintings, but the majority are tranquil seascapes with obscure horizon lines. She often adds a solitary boat or whisper of land to draw the viewer into her serene world with the expansive sea & sky capturing the essence of what you don’t see, the space behind the mist, clouds & shadows. She is moved by the emotional responses of her viewers.
