About the Artist
Muro is a women-owned business founded in 2015 after realizing that I had found my calling after more than 20 years of experimenting and creating.
I make modern jewelry that combines my architecture discipline training with the exploration of unusual materials like reclaimed wood and resin. Each piece has been lovingly made with the highest finishing standard. Your Muro team is me, Rosa, in partnership with my husband Ruben who had the vision and knowledge to make this a true business (and if you know him you know he is the heart and soul of this adventure) and our production team, Adriana who brings wonderful structure to a creative soul and make the scariest of deadlines doable.
I create one of a kind wearable art pieces made with reclaimed textiles, wood, eco resin and metals. I strongly believe in meaningful connections through the objects I make and spend a long time with each piece leaving thoughts and an emotional imprint on each one. The impact of wearing something beautiful everyday and observing the reaction of my customers when they interact and wear my jewelry keeps me motivated to develop new and interesting work. For the wood and resin pieces I source the reclaimed wood locally and, after stabilizing it, pour and curate colored resin to create the starter blocks for my jewelry. I slice, cut and shape all pieces with a belt saw and sander, then every piece is polished by hand with different grits of sandpaper. I make the metal jewelry by soldering, hammering and polishing small batches of metal strip and wire. The resin is colored and poured individually in each bezel. All the color in my work has been applied consciously by hand painting with brushes and different techniques inspired from my background as an architect and painter.
