About the Artist
My biomechanical sculptures have evolved throughout a lifetime of experiences, creating life and motion out of static scrap metals. Significant inspiration comes from shapes and designs discovered within the found parts, which take shape in human and animal subjects alike. I look for materials of heavy iron and steel to help depict the mass and strength of the animal. From a sketch, parts are cut to size with various cutting tools, then pieced together and welded. The next step is to finish grinding or sanding if needed. Finally, a dark steel patina and clear topcoat is added for finish effect and protection. Lives and works in Mattawan, MI.
