About the Artist

I began painting in 2003, sort of on a whim, but to see how I might be able to express my creative energy through visual art. I found that I enjoy working with the full spectrum of acrylic paints and mediums, such as modeling paste and gloss gels, applied to stretched canvas in heavy layers to build mood and character on the surface. I further employ tools such as palette knives, scrapers and textiles to complete the compositions. I find inspiration for my subject matter as I travel around the United States visiting state and national parks, taking in the textures and beauty of nature's wonders. My painting "The Needles" was created in honor of the colorful sandstone spirals located in Utah's Canyonlands National Park.
